Happy Days Are Here Again!!!

November 8, 2006

Yesterday was an amazing day for Democrats. Missouri has Democrat Claire McCaskill as U.S. Senator elect. Democrat Susan Montee will be our new State Auditor. Northeast Missouri will be sending Wes Shoemyer to the state senate. Democrat Paul Quinn will fill Wes’s old House seat for the 9th District. Tom Shively will replace Republican Kathy Chinn as state rep for 8th District. Democrat Rebecca McClanahan won the race for 2nd District–the seat vacated by Republican Bob Behnen. Rachel Bringer was re-elected as rep from the 6th District.

Locally Russ Steele was re-elected as Circuit Judge. Democratic office holders did well on the county level.

On the national level, Democrats have taken back the U.S. House of Representative. We are waiting for official results from Virginia and Montana , but it looks like we’ve also got control of the Senate. Democrats won the majority of yesterday’s governor races.

Happy days are here again!!!

A Birthday Wish

Today is my daughter’s sixteenth birthday. This morning she opened B-Day gifts and I ask her if there was anything else that she wanted. She grinned and said that she hoped that lots of Democrats vote today.  That’s my girl!!!

St. Louis Post-Dispatch Endorses Duane Burghard

October 24, 2006

On Monday the St. Louis Post-Dispatch endorsed Democrat Duane Burghard for Congress from Missouri’s 9th District. They wrote: “We have endorsed Mr. Hulshof in past elections, but this time Duane N. Burghard offers voters a better choice: strong support for the military, but not for misguided military ventures, and in favor of fairer, more egalitarian economic policies.”

You can read the full endorsement as a PDF file at the NEMO Democrats website, www.nemodemocrats.org.
