Shoemyer’s Ag Forum Was a Success!
By bobveatch
I’ve talked to some Lewis County folks who were able to attend Wes Shoemyer’s ag forum at Palmyra on Tuesday. They report the event was a success. The weather was great and lots of farmers took a break from harvesting to show their support for Wes. Other Democratic leaders at the event were Attorney-General Jay Nixon, Congressional Candidate Duane Burghard, first district house candidate Beau Hicks, 8th district house candidate Tom Shively and Representative Rachel Bringer.

Was there any talk of Mr. Shoemyer’s status as a Farm Bureau member? I heard he was thinking about terminating his membership with that “insurance company,” but it seems to be pretty difficult to leave a group that you don’t currently belong to. I guess it makes sense. If you aren’t going to vote with the concerns of Missouri’s family farmers in mind, why join with them and have to pretend that you agree with them more than half the time (and that’s being quite generous)?

Wes Shoemyer is one of the best Democratic candidates for any elected office that I have seen in quite a while. As someone with family ties to rural NE Missouri and agriculture, I can’t think of a better person who will represent my values and fight for me. Wes embodies the rural Missouri values of family agriculture. I will be proud to cast my vote for him on Tuesday!
